Cojín Caleidoscopio con telas AGF / Kaleidescope Cushion with AGF Fabrics

Hace unas semanas tuve la gran suerte de ganar el sorteo que organizó Art Gallery Fabrics de su nueva colección de telas Essentials II, diseñada por Pat Bravo.

Some weeks ago I was really lucky to win a bundle of fat quarters of the new fabric collection designed by Pat Bravo for Art Gallery Fabrics: Essentials II collection.

Ya os podéis imaginar mi cara cuando recibí el paquete... ¡son tan bonitas!! Los estampados y los colores son preciosos y combinan perfectamente entre ellos. Sí, todavía sonrío cuando las miro jejeje

You can imagine my face when I received the package... they're so beautiful!! Patterns and colours are so pretty and they perfectly combine. And yes, I still smile when I look at them hehehe

Así que empecé a pensar qué podía hacer con ellas, hasta que hace un día vi el cojín que había hecho Amy Sinibaldi a partir del diseño "Kaleidescope Miniquilt" de Jemima Flendt (Tied With A Ribbon).

So I began thinking about what I could do with them, until I saw the cushion that Amy Sinibaldi made from the "Kaleidescope Miniquilt" pattern, by Jemima Flendt (Tied With A Ribbon).

 

Lo tuve clarísimo: quería un cojín con ese diseño con las telas de Art Gallery Fabrics que había ganado.

And I knew for sure that I wanted that cushion with the fabrics I'd won.

Y estoy contentísima con el resultado. No sé qué pensaréis vosotras, pero me encanta el aire fresco y la alegría que le da al sofá. 

And I'm so happy with it! I don't know what you think, but I love the fresh and bright touch it gives to the sofa.

Lo mejor es que todavía me queda bastante de cada tela, así que ahora no sé si hacer otro cojín o un camino de mesa a conjunto, que el que tengo ya está un poco viejo.

The best thing is that I still have quite a lot of fabrics from the bundle, so I don't know what to do now: another cushion or a table runner, as the one I've got is quite old.

Sorteo Cojín de Lavanda/ Lavender Cushion Giveaway

Este fin de semana está siendo muy tranquilo, así que ayer aproveché para ordenar un poco los proyectos que tengo empezados de patchwork. 

This weekend is being very quiet, so yesterday I decided to organize my UFOs.

Me encontré un par de cojines para rellenar con lavanda sin acabar. Lo fuerte es que llevan así desde las Navidades del 2009!!! Regalé unos cuantos a mi familia, y me quedaron estos dos colgados a falta de poner el relleno.

I found a pair of unfinished lavender cushions... and they were unfinished since Christmas 2009!!! I gave some to my family, and I left these two aside.

Así que ayer me puse con ellos y no tardé ni una hora en acabarlos! Uno de ellos ya está perfumando mi armario, y el otro he decidido sortearlo entre todos vosotr@s.  

So, yesterday I decided to finish them, and it took me just one hour!! One of them is already filling my wardrobe with a lavender scent, and the other one I've decided to give it away.

Cojín de patchwork / Patchwork Cushion

Después de 2 años de espera, finalmente le he hecho a mi hermana el 3er cojín que le prometí! El primero se lo dí en marzo 2011, el segundo en septiembre 2011 y el tercero ahora!! He aprovechado que esta semana ha sido su cumpleaños para dárselo.

After two-years waiting, I've finally made the 3rd cushion I promised to my sister! I gave her the first one on March 2011, the second one on September 2011, and the third one now!! As it has been her birthday this week, I've taken the opportunity to give to her.

Aquí podéis ver a los 3 juntos. He utilizado las mismas telas en los tres (estaban bien guardadas para no usarlas en otros proyectos jejeje), así que quedan muy bien conjuntados. Y como los otros, está todo hecho a mano.

Here you can see the three together. I've used the same fabrics (I had put them away in a safe place so I couldn't use them in other projects hehehe), so they coordinate very well. And, like the other ones, it's all handmade.

Aunque no se ve muy bien, esta es la trasera, es una tela preciosa de unos colores vivos anaranjados y rojizos. En otra foto más abajo se ve mejor.

Here you can see (but not too well) the back side of the cushion. It's a beautiful fabric with bright orangey and reddish colours. You can see it better in a photo below.

 

El cojín mide 50x50cm (20x20"), igual que los otros, y el relleno es del IKEA. 

The cushion is 50x50cm (20x20"), like the other, and the stuffing is from IKEA.

He acolchado todas las uniones y, en los bloques más grandes, he hecho unas hojas (o corazones, según se quiera ver). 

I've quilted all the strips and, in the bigger blocks, I've made some leaves (or hearts, as you prefer).

Es la primera vez que hago el bies. Hasta ahora, siempre lo había comprado, pero como es una tela tan bonita (aquí sí que se ve mejor), pensé que quedaría mejor con ella.

Estuve buscando tutoriales por Internet, y al final seguí el que hizo Anna Orduña (ver aquí) sobre cómo hacer un bies simple para quilts rectos. Me ha ido muy bien, y para ser el primero que hago estoy muy contenta. No será el últimos, eso lo tengo claro.

It's the first time I made the bias binding. Up to now, I'd always bought it, but as it's a very nice fabric (now you can see it better), I thought it would look nicer with it.

I looked for some tutorials on the Internet, and I finally followed one made by Anna Orduña (see here) about how to make a simple bias binding for straight quilts. To be the first one I do, I'm very happy with it, and I'm sure it won't be the last one.

Cojín patchwork / Patchwork Pillow

En la página web de Interweave he visto un cojín que me ha gustado mucho. Es un tradicional log cabin pero con un aire muy moderno. Me parece que lo voy a utilizar para hacerle el 2º cojín a mi hermana. Los colores, por supuesto, serán anaranjados :)

In Interweave's website I've seen a pillow that I have liked a lot. It has a modern take on a traditional log cabin. I think I'm going to use it to make the 2nd pillow to my syster. But colours will certainly be orangey :)

Sigo avanzando en el cojín de patchwork. Ya me queda muy poco, así que espero acabarlo esta semana.

I'm making progress with the cushion of patchwork, in fact I think I'll finish it very soon... during this week, I hope.
