Mis UFOs / My UFOs

Estos cuatro días que he tenido fiesta por Semana Santa me he quedado en Barcelona, así que he aprovechado para poner un poco de orden en los proyectos de patchwork que tengo empezados y parados. 

These Easter holidays I have stayed in Barcelona, so I decided to organize my UFO patchwork projects. 

1. SAL 12 Meses en Rojo organizado por Griselda (del blog Mis recuerdos)

Este quilt lo empecé en noviembre de 2011 y el último bloque lo hice en octubre de 2014. Pensaba que sólo me faltaban unir los bloques, pero me he dado cuenta que me faltan los triángulos de log cabin, así que me lo he dejado preparado para continuarlo ya que me gustaría acabarlo este año.

I began this quilt in November 2011, and I sewed the last block in October 2014. I thought I just needed to sew all the blocks together, but I've realized that I need to do the log cabin triangles, so now I have everything ready to continue as I'd like to finish it during this year.

Este quilt lo empecé en enero de 2010 y el último bloque que os enseñé es de febrero de 2010. Me faltan por hacer 10 bloques aplicados y 1 bloque del Irish Chain. De momento, lo he vuelto a guardar, aunque estaría bien acabarlo para Navidades...

I began this quilt in January 2010 and I showed you the last block in February 2010. I still need to do 10 blocks with the snowmen and 1 Irish Chain block. At the moment, I've put it away in a safe place, but it would be great if I could finish it for Christmas time...

Este quilt os lo presentaba por primera vez en abril de 2011. Ahora que lo he releído me he reído bastante porque me puse hasta objetivos con fechas, todo muy bien organizado! jajaja 

El primer bloque es de mayo 2011 y el segundo (y de momento último) de junio 2011. Lo he vuelto a guardar.

I talked about this quilt for the first time in April 2011. Now that I've this post read again I've laughed a lot because I even wrote end dates for each objective, it was all very well-organized! hahaha

The first block is from May 2011 and the second one (and the last one for the moment) is from June 2011. I've put it in a box again.

4. Colcha de la amistad

Os enseñé los primeros bloques de esta colcha que estamos haciendo con unas amigas en noviembre 2012. El bloque que hice yo os lo enseñé en junio 2013 y los últimos bloques son de enero 2014. 

Lo tengo parado porque tengo que pensar en cómo montarlo. A ver si me pongo un día y así puedo empezar a unirlos. De momento, lo he vuelto a guardar.

In November 2012 I showed you the first blocks for this quilt that we are doing with some friends. In June 2013 I published a post with the block I made for this project, and the last blocks are from January 2014. 

I haven't continued because I have to think about how to finish the quilt top. So, I just need to stop one day and think about it. At the moment, I've put them in a box again.

Os hablé por primera vez de este proyecto en marzo 2014 y el último bordado lo publiqué en junio 2014. Este proyecto lo llevé muy al día, pero quiero cambiar el montaje final del quilt, así que ahora estoy pensando en cómo montarlos. Lo que sí he hecho ha sido comprar más telas de otros colores más variados para añadir más hexágonos. 

I first talked to you about this project in March 2014 and I published the last embroidery in June 2014. I kept this project up to date, but I want to change the design of the quilt, so now I'm thinking about how to do the quilt top. I have already bought some more fabrics in different colours to make more hexagons.

Creo que este proyecto no os lo he llegado a enseñar nunca. Lo empecé en verano de 2009 ó 2010, no me acuerdo, y así se quedó. Y creo que se quedará así por bastante tiempo, ya veremos. Eso sí, los colores son más bonitos en vivo y en directo que los de la foto.

I think I've never shown you this project. I began it in Summer 2009 or 2010, I don't really remember. But I think it will be like this for a long time. Anyway, real colours are much more beautiful than the ones in the photo.

Ha sido una buena idea hacer esta lista para darme cuenta de todos los proyectos que tengo parados y para ver en qué estado los tengo, lo que me falta por hacer de cada uno y para decidir si voy a seguir a corto plazo o no. A ver si sirve de algo...

It has been a very good idea to make this list to realize about all the unfinished projects I have, what I need to do finish each one of them and to decide which ones I want to continue in a short or long term. Let's see if it's useful in some way...

Vacaciones y 12 Meses en Rojo - Septiembre / September & Holidays

Y por fin he acabado el último bloque que me quedaba de este SAL, septiembre! Estos últimos bloques, como los he cogido con ganas, no se me han hecho nada pesados de hacer. 

So, I have finally finished the last block for this SAL, September! I've really liked to do these last blocks, I suppose that this is so because I really wanted to finish them.

Alguna de vosotras me ha escrito para decirme que no encontraba los primeros bloques, y no me extraña: lo empecé hace ¡¡3 años!!! Uf, parece que fue ayer, y ya han pasado todos estos años! 

Some of you have written to me to ask me about the first blocks I did, since they didn't find them. I'm not surprised, I began it 3 years ago!!! It seems it was yesterday, and all this time has passed!

Esta semana estoy de vacaciones y mañana mismo me voy a pasar unos días a Florencia :))) Tengo muchas ganas de visitarla ya que todo el mundo que conozco que ha estado allí me la han recomendado. Así que estos días me encontraréis en mi Instagram.

12 Meses en Rojo - Agosto / August

Parece que la cosa va por muy buen camino, he acabado el bloque de agosto del SAL "12 Meses en Rojo" y ya sólo me queda uno!!!!!!!!!

It seems that everything is going in the right direction. I've finished the block of August for the SAL "12 Meses en Rojo" (12 Months in Red) and I just need to do one more!!!!!!!

Me ha gustado mucho hacer este bloque, me ha recordado al verano, la playa, las vacaciones y el buen tiempo.

I've liked to sew this block, it has reminded me of Summer, the beach, holidays and the good weather.

Aunque parece que el buen tiempo sigue, al menos en Barcelona... y dicen que el próximo fin de semana hará incluso más calor! A ver si incluso podremos ir a la playa.

And, at least in Barcelona, the weather is still very nice... and experts say that next weekend temperatures will be warmer! See if we can even go to the beach.

Me pongo con el bloque de septiembre, a ver si os lo puedo enseñar pronto.

12 Meses en Rojo - Julio / July

Después de la inactividad de este último mes, parece que ya me he puesto las pilas. De momento, he acabado el bloque de julio del SAL "12 Meses en Rojo" de Griselda.

After my inactivity from this last month, it seems that I've begun working heartily again. For the moment, I've finished the block of July of the SAL "12 Meses en Rojo" (12 Months in Red) organized by Griselda.

En realidad, este bloque lo he cambiado respecto al original. Como la diseñadora de la colcha es francesa, hizo el Arco de Triunfo. Pero, aunque en Barcelona tenemos uno, no me acababa de convencer y decidí cambiar el diseño. Pensando y pensando, al final he hecho un molino de viento.

I've actually changed it with respect to the original. As the designer of this quilt is French, she used the Arc of Triomphe. But, although there is also one in Barcelona, I wasn't absolutely sure about it and I changed it. Thinking and thinking, I finally decided to make a windmill.

He buscado imágenes por Internet y he hecho una adaptación bastante sencilla, pero me gusta cómo ha quedado.

I've looked for some pictures on the Internet and I've made a quite simple version, but I like it.

Costuras al fin y fiestas de La Mercè/ Sewing at Last & La Mercè Festivities

Desde que había vuelto de vacaciones todavía no había cogido una aguja... no sé si era simplemente que hacía mucho calor o que estaba bloqueada. Pero, por fin, este fin de semana me han entrado las ganas de nuevo. Así que, aprovechando la inspiración (y que el domingo estuvo lloviendo toda la tarde), he preparado los 3 últimos bloques que me faltan por aplicar de la colcha 12 Meses en Rojo. 

Since I came back from my holidays, I hadn't used a needle yet... I don't know if it was due to the horrible heat from Barcelona or that I was just blocked. But, at last, last weekend I really felt like sewing again. So, as I was inspired (and as on Sunday it rained all afternoon and evening), I prepared the 3 last blocks of the "12 Meses en Rojo" (12 Months in Red) quilt.

Y cambiando de tema, este mes de septiembre han habido muchas actividades en Barcelona. Una que me llamó la atención fue la instalación "Els fils de la història" ("Los hilos de la historia"), que se montó en el Centro Cultural del Born. 

Changing the subject, there have been many activities in Barcelona this month of September. One that really attracted my attention was the installation "Els fils de la història" ("Threads of history"), set up in the Born Cultural Center. 

Sobre el yacimiento del Born y utilizando cuerdas, hilos y telas, se han construido algunas fachadas de las casas de 1700 para homenajear a la gente que tuvo que abandonar sus casas durante la guerra. 

On this archaeological site, some 1700s facades have been built with ropes, fabrics and threads to pay tribute to the people that had to leave their houses during the war.

La compañía Efimer es la creadora de la instalación. 
The company that has created this installation is Efimer.

No sé si se ve muy bien pero en la foto de abajo a la derecha hay una máquina de coser y una mesa para hilar.

I'm not really sure that you can see it well, but in the photo below (right) there is an old sewing machine and a spin table.

Además, este pasado 24 de septiembre ha sido la fiesta mayor de La Mercè. Entre la multitud de actividades que se han celebrado en la ciudad, me gustó mucho el espectáculo de luces y sonido de Eyesburg Studio que tuvo lugar en el Parc de la Ciutadella.

Moreover, Barcelona celebrated its local festivity on the 24th September, La Mercè. Among the many activities that took place in the city, I really loved Eyesburg Studio's light and sound performace at the Ciutadella Park. 

Este mapa (mapping) interactivo consistía en pulsar (o más bien pisar) el teclado de un piano de luces virtual que estaba proyectado en el suelo, y, según las teclas que se pisaran, se proyectaban unas u otras imágenes en la fachada del Museo de Geología del parque.

This interactive mapping consisted of clicking on (or stepping on) a virtual piano keyboard video projected on the floor and, depending on the keys pressed, ones or other images were projected on the facade of the Museum of Geology at the park. 

Muy divertido y muy espectacular... ah, y una buena manera de hacer ejercicio jejeje

It was very funny and spectacular... oh, and a good way to practice some exercise hehehe

Y para acabar con el post de hoy, os pongo unas fotos de este domingo del MNAC (Museo Nacional de Arte de Catalunya), en Montjuïc.

12 Meses en Rojo - Junio / June

¿Cómo lleváis el verano? Yo ya estoy deseando que llegue el viernes para empezar mis vacaciones :)) De momento, más o menos voy a haciendo vida normal aunque intentando disfrutar del solecillo.

How is your Summer going on? I'm really looking forward it's Friday to begin my holidays :)) At the moment, I'm doing my daily routine, although I'm trying to enjoy the sun.

Enchufada delante del aire acondicionado por las noches, he conseguido acabar el bloque de junio del SAL "12 Meses en Rojo" que organizó Griselda. 

In the evening, just sitting in front of the air-conditioning, I've managed to finish the block of June for the SAL "12 Meses en Rojo" (12 Months in Red) organized by Griselda.

Ya "sólo" me quedan cuatro :)))

So I "just" need to do 4 more :)))

12 Meses en Rojo - Mayo/ May

Después de exactamente 2 años, he acabado el siguiente bloque del SAL "12 Meses en Rojo", que organizó Griselda en septiembre 2011. 

After 2 years, I've finally finished the next block for the SAL "12 Meses en Rojo" (12 Months in Red), organized by Griselda on September 2011.

Casualidades de la vida, corresponde al mes de mayo... me lo tomaré como una señal para acabarlo este año jejeje

It just so happens that it is May block... I will take it as a sign to finish it this year hehehe

Retomando un UFO/ Picking up a UFO

...aunque, todo hay que decirlo, no era consciente de que era un UFO hasta que he mirado cuándo hice el último bloque.... mayo de 2012!! Pues sí, definitivamente lo es.

...although, I must say, I wasn't too conscious that it was a UFO until I've looked at the date when I made the last block.... May 2012!! It certainly is!

Empecé la colcha "12 Meses en Rojo" en septiembre de 2011 (aquí), cuando me apunté al SAL que organizó Griselda en su blog.

I began the quilt "12 Meses en Rojo" (12 Months in Red) in September 2011 (here), when I signed on the SAL organized by Griselda. 

Me quedan 5 bloques de meses (mayo, junio, julio, agosto y septiembre) y los triángulos en log cabin. Me he propuesto darle un empujón, a ver si la puedo estrenar este invierno... pero ya veremos porque aún me queda bastante. Por lo menos, esta semana ya he estado escogiendo las telas para las aplicaciones de mayo y junio. Ya os iré enseñando mis avances. 

I still have to do 5 blocks (May, June, July, August and September) and the log cabin triangles. I'm going to try to push it along a bit to see if I can use it next winter... but we'll see because I still have to work a lot on it. At least, this week I've been choosing fabrics for May and June appliqués. I'll show you my progress.

SAL 12 Meses en Rojo Febrero/ February

Ahora que ya he dejado la gripe atrás, vuelvo a tener ganas de coser :) He acabado el bloque de febrero del SAL y ahora seguiré con la colcha para mi sobrinillo.

Now that I've left the flu behind, I feel like sewing again :) I've finished February's block and I'll continue now with the quilt for my little nephew.

Podéis ver que ya he cosido bien los tejados, ahora queda mucho mejor...
You can see that I've sewn well the roofs, it looks much better now...

Para los bordados he utilizado el punto de cadeneta.
For the embroideries, I've used the chain stitch.

Y, desde luego, lo más complicado han sido los corazones del árbol. Os pongo mi conversación con mi novio:

Yo (sonriendo): Mira, he acabado el bloque, ¿te gusta?

M: Sí, es muy bonito. Me gustan los pajaritos, te han quedado muy bien.

Yo: ?????????????? No son pájaros, son corazones...

M: Ahhhh...... (lo mira más de cerca) sí, es verdad, te han quedado muy bien...

And, surely, the most difficult thing has been the hearts of the tree. My conversation with my boyfriend:

Me (smiling): Look, I've finished the block, do you like it?
M: Yes, it's very nice. I like the birds, they look beautiful.
Me: ?????????????? They aren't birds, they're hearts.....
M: Ohhh... (he looks at it closer) yes, it's true, they look beautiful...

Vale, los corazones no me han quedado perfectos, pero ¿pájaros??
OK, the hearts are not perfect, but birds??
