Arañas para Halloween / Halloween Spooky Spiders

SweetBriar Sisters nos propone un nuevo patrón perfecto para Halloween: una araña (nada) terrorífica! 

SweetBriar Sisters propose a new pattern perfect for Halloween: a Spooky Spider!

En casa no somos de celebrar Halloween, sino la Castanyada, la fiesta típica de Cataluña con las castañas asadas, boniatos y panellets. Pero cuando recibí el e-mail de SweetBriar Sisters para probar este patrón, no me lo pensé dos veces y me apunté.

We don't celebrate Halloween at home, but the Castanyada, a popular festival in Catalonia with roasted chestnuts, sweet potatoes and panellets. So, when I received an e-mail from SweetBriar Sisters to test their pattern, I didn't think twice about it and I signed up.

Ojalá todas las arañas fueran así de simpáticas, con estas patitas tan graciosas. ¡No dan nada de miedo!

If only all spiders were so cute as these ones, with these funny legs. They aren't scary at all!

Ya sabéis que ahora tengo que hacerlo todo por triplicado, así que he hecho una para Bruno (la azul), una para Simón (la naranja) y una para Fabio (la amarilla).

You know that now I have to do everything in triplicate, so I've made the blue spider for Bruno, the orange one for Simón and the yellow one for Fabio.

Tully The Turkey by SweetBriar Sisters

He tenido la oportunidad de probar otro nuevo patrón de SweetBriar Sisters. En esta ocasión, y como se acerca Acción de Gracias, el animal al que le ha tocado el turno ha sido un pavo bautizado como Tully The Turkey.

I've had the chance to test a new pattern from SweetBriar Sisters. In this case, as we're close to Thanksgiving Day, it has come the turn to sew a turkey, Tully the Turkey.

Ha sido muy sencillo de seguir, incluso las patitas, que en principio parecían complicadas. Por cierto, quedan súper graciosas colgando porque sólo se les rellena la parte del pie; la parte de la pata queda vacía.

It has been very easy to follow, even the legs, which seemed at first to be quite difficult to do. By the way, they look so funny as you only have to stuff the feet, leaving the ankles unstuffed. 

El plumaje consta de dos piezas que luego se unen juntas a la parte trasera del cuerpo del pavo.

The tail feathers are made of two pieces that are sewn together to the back of the Turkey.

Aquí podéis ver cómo van unidas al cuerpo, y ahora me estoy dando cuenta que los puntos no han quedado muy centrados...

You can see below how they're sewn. But I realize now that the embroidery stitches are not really centered...

He decidido regalárselo a mi sobrino Fabio, que seguro que jugará un montón con las patitas.

I've decided to give it to my newborn nephew Fabio, who will surely play a lot with its legs.

Murciélagos (nada) terroríficos / (Not at all) Terrifying Bats

Esta noche se celebra la fiesta de Halloween, aunque aquí en España no hay mucha tradición en celebrarlo todavía. En Cataluña, por ejemplo, lo que es típica la Castanyada y se comen castañas asadas, boniatos y panellets.

Tonight it's Halloween, altough we don't usually celebrate it in Spain. In Catalonia, for example, it's typical to celebrate the Castanyada, and we eat roasted chestnuts, sweet potatoes and panellets, a traditional dessert.

No obstante, Xandra, del blog Arte Friki, nos propuso hace unas semanas un reto para celebrar esta fiesta, y, como me pareció divertida, me he animado a hacer un par de murciélagos de SweetBriar Sisters. 

Nevertheless, Xandra (Arte Friki), proposed us some weeks ago to celebrate Halloween together and, as it was a funny challenge, I've made a pair of SweetBriar Sisters's bats.

Y ya podéis ver que estos murciélagos no son para nada terroríficos... 

And you can see that these bats aren't terrifying at all...

Más bien al contrario... éstos los he hecho para mis sobrinos, y desde el primer día han dormido con ellos jejeje

Quite the opposite... I've made these two for my nephews and, from the first day, they have slept with them hehehe

Huevo de Pascua con sorpresa / Surprise Easter Egg

Hace un par de meses, conocí la web de Sweetbriar Sisters a través de Teresa (del blog Aurea's Kitchen). Gracias a ella me enteré que te puedes inscribir para probar los patrones (sólo en ingés) que quieren sacar próximamente a la venta, así que me apunté sin dudarlo después de ver los muñecos tan bonitos que han diseñado.

Some months ago, I knew Sweetbriar Sisters's website through Teresa (Aurea's Kitchen blog). Thanks to her, I found out that you can subscribe to test the patterns  they will shortly put on sale, so I definitely signed up after seeing all the sweet softies they had on their shop.

Hace unas semanas recibí mi primera invitación y, como tenía tiempo y me pareció monísimo, acepté. Y me alegro mucho de haberlo hecho!

Some weeks ago I received my first invitation and, as I had some free time and really loved it, I accepted it. And I'm really glad to have done it!

El plazo que daban para hacerlo era de 2 semanas, pero tuve tiempo de sobra. Para que os hagáis una idea, yo (que me lo tomo con calma) lo he hecho en menos de una semana.

I was required to sew the pattern in 2 weeks, but I had plenty of time and I finished it in less than one week (and I usually sew calmy).

Una vez lo acabas, tienes que rellenar un cuestionario para informarles sobre los fallos o problemas que te has podido encontrar.

Once you finish it, you have to answer a questionnaire to provide them with feedback of the mistakes or problems you have found.

Con el pollito no tuve ningún problema en seguir el patrón, pero en el caso del huevo me costó entender sobre todo un punto. Pero no debí ser la única porque publicaron un vídeo mostrando específicamente este paso.

I didn't have any problems to follow the chick's pattern, but I had some with the zippered egg as I couldn't understand one of the steps. But I think I wasn't the only one as they published a video specifically about this step.

¿Os gusta? A mí me ha parecido una cucada, y bastante fácil y rápido de hacer. Ahora sólo me falta decidir a quién se lo voy a regalar.

Do you like it? I think it's so cute, and quite easy and quick to do. So now I just need to decide who I want to give it.
