Hola a tod@s!! ¿Qué tal esta semana? Espero que mejor que la mía... un breve resumen: he estado con la gripe, pero no la he pasado en mi casa sino que me he tenido que "trasladar" por un par de días a casa de mis padres porque justo ha coincidido con que me han venido a instalar la calefacción en casa. ¡Nunca me pongo enferma y me he tenido que poner mala con operarios en casa! Pero ahora, después de hacer una limpieza a fondo a casa, ha valido la pena (ponerse la calefacción, no coger la gripe), ¡por fin estamos calentitos!!! :)

Hi everybody!! How was your week? I hope better than mine... a short summary: I've had the flu, and I needed to move for two days to my parents' house because it has coincided with the gas heating installation at home. I'm never ill and I've had to get sick with the workers at home! But now, after a thorough clean to all my flat, it's been worth it (the installation, not the flu): we are finally warmer here!!! :)

Feliz Año!!! / Happy New Year!!!

¡Feliz Año Nuevo a tod@s!!! Un poco tarde, ya lo sé... Nunca había estado tanto tiempo sin publicar nada, pero ha sido por vacaciones, la visita de mi hermana, cuñado y sobrinillo a Barcelona y la vuelta al trabajo. Ahora ya he vuelto a la rutina así que espero ponerme al día poco a poco, visitar todos vuestros blogs y volver a coser :)

Happy New Year to everybody!!! Yes, I know it's a bit late.... I've never spent so much time without publishing anything, but it's been because of my holidays, my sister's+ brother-in-law+ little nephew's visit to Barcelona, and my return to work. Now I've started my daily routine again, so I hope to get up to date gradually, visit all your blogs and sew again :)

Para empezar, me gustaría recomendaros el calendario de My Owl Barn, que seguro que muchas ya conocéis. Me lo he colgado en la nevera. Para este mes de enero he elegido la ilustración de Juliette Crane. ¿A qué es bonita?

For a start, I'd like to recommend you My Owl Barn's calendar, as many of you surely know. I've hung it on the fridge. For this month of January I've chosen an illustration from Juliette Crane. Isn't it nice?

Como obsequio de Navidad para mi familia, imprimí unas copias y las regalé junto a un imán de Hey Sosi que compré en el Festivalet (diciembre 2011). Tuvieron mucho éxito! :)

As a Christmas present for my family, I printed some copies and I gave them with a magnet from Hey Sosi that I bought during the Festivalet, an independent crafts fair made in Barcelona last December 2011. They were very successful! :)

Otro calendario que me gusta mucho es de Cecilia, de Una Flor de Papel. En este caso es un calendario lunar.

Hace ya unos días que acabé el bloque de noviembre del SAL 12 Meses en Rojo de Griselda. Ya he empezado el de diciembre, y que espero acabar este mes... :)
Some days ago I finished November's block of the quilt "12 Meses en Rojo" (12 Months in Red) of Griselda. I've already begun the one for December, which I hope to finish this month... :)

I've begun to design the Christmas ornaments for this year. And I want to begin them tonight while I watch "The Walking Dead", on which I'm hooked!! Anybody else?

Sí sí, habéis leído bien, es el adorno del 2010!! Resulta que he empezado a pensar en el adorno para el árbol que les voy a regalar este año a mi familia y me he dado cuenta de que no os hice el tutorial del adorno del año pasado!! Así, que ahora mismo lo arreglo!

Yes, you have read well, I mean the ornament from 2010!! The thing is, I've begun to think about the Xmas Tree ornament I will give this year to my family and I've realised that I've forgotten to make the tutorial for the last year ornament!! So I immediately sort it out!

Gorrito bebé / Baby Hat

Creo que no os lo había dicho... mi hermana tendrá un bebé en febrero! :) Es una gran noticia y estamos todos contentísimos de que mi sobrinillo, que ahora hará 3 años, tenga un hermanito (sí, será otro niño)... mis padres sobre todo, y más al ver que ni yo ni mi otra hermana estamos por la labor, jejeje.

I think I haven't told you yet... my is sister is having a baby in February! :) These are great news and we are all really happy that my little nephew, who will be now 3 years old, will have a brother (yes, it'll another boy)... above all my parents, especially because neither my other sister nor me are thinking about it, hehehe.

Así que tengo que empezar a hacerle cositas al bebé. Este fin de semana le he hecho un gorrito para bebés de 0-3 meses con una lana Merino (Biberon Merino Superfine).
So now I have to begin doing things for the baby. Last weekend I made I baby hat for newborn babys with a Merino yarn (Biberon Merino Superfine).

Uy, mirad quien se ha instalado en él, jejeje...
Oops, look who's moved there, hehehe...

El patrón es super sencillo, básicamente punto elástico las primeras vueltas y luego punto bobo e ir menguando, unir y al final un pompón (que, la verdad, me ha quedado un poco escuálido...). Y lo mejor es que queda muy resultón :)

The pattern is very simple, basically rib stitch the first rows, then garter stitch, then decreases, sew and, at the end, a pompom (I know, mine is a bit tiny...). The best thing is that it looks nice :)

Igual que a Bruno, le quiero hacer también una colcha para la cuna, así que ya puedo empezar a pensar. Esta es la que le hice a Bruno cuando nació.

Like I did when Bruno was born, I want to make the baby a blanket for his cot, so I have to begin thinking about it. This is the one I made for Bruno when he was born.

Pues ahora que ya estamos en noviembre, he acabado el bloque correspondiente a octubre del SAL "12 Meses en Rojo" de Griselda ... y hoy mismo me pongo con el de este mes :)

Sin duda, lo más complicado han sido las hojas... y así han quedado, claro...

Palmeras / Palmiers

No es que yo sea precisamente una gran cocinera, y normalmente no me dedico a preparar platos muy elaborados, pero hoy me he decidido a hacer palmeras de hojaldre.
I'm not exactly a great cook, and I don't devote a lot of time to make elaborated dishes, but today I've made up my mind to make puff palmiers.

El otro día encontré esta video-receta, y me pareció bastante sencillo de hacer, así que hoy me he decidido a probar. Son facilísimas y muy rápidas de hacer, y quedan buenísimas!!

The other day I found this video-recipe (this one is in Spanish, but here you can find one in English, and there are many others in Internet if you are interested). It seemed very simple, so today I've decided to try. They are really easy and quick to do, and they are delicious!!

He hecho una prueba y en algunas he puesto chocolate por encima... mmmm! deliciosas!
Just to test, I've put some chocolate on some of them .... delicious!

El otro día estaba leyendo este post de Casiopea sobre los ruidos que hay en los bloques de pisos me reí mucho con el enlace que dejó Elisa en uno de los comentarios: http://elbazardejim.blogspot.com/2009/07/misterios-de-andar-por-casa.html .... ¡¡yo también oigo el ruidito de la canica fantasma a las tantas de la noche!!! jajajajaja Un día, hablándolo con mi vecina de abajo, resulta que ella también lo escuchaba y se creía que yo tenía algún gato u otro animal que jugaba con alguna canica, jajaja. Así que el misterio sigue sin resolverse :)

The other day I was reading this post from Casiopea about the noises you can hear in the apartment blocks, and I laughed a lot with the link given by Elisa in her comment: http://elbazardejim.blogspot.com/2009/07/misterios-de-andar-por-casa.html (in Spanish)... I also hear the funny noise of the ghostlike marble at night!!!! hehehehehe. On day, I was talking about this with my neighbour downstairs and she also listened to it... in fact, she thought I had a cat or some other animal who played with a marble or something, hehehe. So it's still an unresolved mystery :)

¡Pero si casi no me ha dado tiempo ni de verla!!! Esta mañana, antes de irme a trabajar he visto que ya se había abierto durante la noche, así que he pensado que le haría una foto por la tarde... y cuando he llegado a casa ¡¡ya se estaba marchitando!!!!!
But I hardly have had time to see it!!! This morning, just before I left for work, I've seen that it had opened during the night, so I decided to take a photo this evening... but when I've come back home it was already withering!!!!!

A ver si tengo más suerte con la otra flor... me voy a dejar la cámara al lado :)

Después de las vacaciones, por fin he empezado a hacer algo de patchwork!!! Ya era hora!

Estoy haciendo los bloques de log cabin para la colcha "12 Meses en Rojo" del SAL que organiza Griselda en su blog.

¿Os acordáis que el pasado mes de junio, uno de mis cactus (el de la Tienda de los Horrores, jeje) sacó una flor enorme (aquí)? ...... pues ahora ha sacado 2 nuevos capullos!!!!!!!! Ayer estaban así:

Cojín patchwork / Patchwork Pillow

Antes de irnos al Camino de Santiago, le di a mi hermana el 2º cojín de patchwork (ejem ejem, sí, el regalo de Navidad... menos mal que ya le avisé que tardaría en dárselos...).
Before going to the Camino de Santiago, I gave to my sister the 2nd patchwork pillow (ahem ahem, yes, the Christmas present... thank goodness I told her I would be "a bit slow"...).

El diseño es un log cabin asimétrico y me he basado en este que vi en Interweave. Creo que tiene un aire muy moderno.
It's an asymmetric log cabin and I've based on this one I saw at Interweave. I think it has a very modern take.

He utilizado las mismas telas que con el cojín del damero. Me gusta mucho cómo quedan los dos juntos :)
I've used the same fabrics as the ones of the checkered pillow. I love how they look together :)

No sé si se ve muy bien, pero he acolchado todas las uniones del log cabin.
I'm not sure you can see it well, but I have quilted all the strips of the log cabin.

Aquí podéis ver la trasera. Me encanta el color vivo de esta tela, tiene mucha fuerza!
Here you can see the back side of the pillow. I really like the bright colour of this fabric, it's very energetic!

De vuelta / Back at Home

Hola a tod@s!

¿Qué tal habéis pasado el verano? Espero que muy bien :) Como sabéis, este año he estado casi 3 semanas con mi hermana haciendo el Camino Primitivo del Camino de Santiago, de Oviedo a Santiago, y de allí nos fuimos hasta Finisterre!!

Hello everybody!

Hope you have had a great Summer :) As you know, this year I've been 3 weeks with my sister on the "Camino de Santiago". I've walked the Primitive Camino, from Oviedo to Santiago, and from there we walked to Fisterra!!

Ha sido una experiencia increíble, preciosa y totalmente recomendable!!! Ya estamos pensando en hacer otros Caminos.

En la foto de arriba me podéis ver con mi "uniforme" de peregrina :)

It has been an incredible & gorgeous experience; totally recommended!!! We are thinking in doing other Caminos.
In the photo above, you can see me with my pilgrim "uniform" :)

Aquí me podéis ver con la casa a cuestas, jeje. La verdad es que los primeros días los pasé fatal. Me dolían un montón los hombros. Pero, milagrosamente, al 5º día se me pasó, y la mochila pasó a estar acoplada a mi espalda y casi ni me pesaba!! Supongo que conseguí graduármela bien.

Esta foto es de los últimos días porque ya no podía caminar con las botas por el dolor de las ampollas. Por suerte llevaba estas chanclas, que me salvaron. Me sentí muy guiri, jejeje

Here you can see me with everything but the kitchen sink, hehehe. The truth is that the firsts days it was very hard. My shoulders hurt a lot. But, miraculously, at the 5th day the pain stopped, and the backpack perfectly fitted on my back and I didn't felt it heavy anymore!! I suppose I managed to adjust it well.

This photo was made on the last days of the Camino because I couldn't walk more with my boots because of the pain for the blisters. Luckily, I took with me these shoes, which saved me. I felt like a typical tourist, hehehe.

Realmente se aprende a vivir con muy pocas cosas materiales.
You really learn to live with very few material possessions.

Un trocito del cojín / A bit of the pillow

¡Todavía no le he dado el cojín a mi hermana!!!! y eso que ya hace días que lo tengo acabado... así que os lo enseño un poquito para que os hagáis una idea...

I haven't given the pillow to my sister yet!!!! and it's some days now that I've finished it... so I show you a little bit in order that you can get an idea of it...

Sigo preparando el material para el Camino de Santiago... De momento ya he utilizado las botas varios días para ir dándolas. Incluso un par de días he ido al trabajo con el "uniforme del Camino", jejeje. Por suerte, mi jefe también lo ha hecho, así que sabe que las tengo que utilizar para que no me hagan heridas en el Camino. Pero como no estoy acostumbrada a ir así vestida, el 1er día llevé las botas en una bolsa y me las puse allí, sí, ¡me daba corte ir por la calle con esas pintas! Luego ya me acostumbré y ya las llevé todo el día ¡cargando con los otros zapatos! jeje

I continue preparing the material for the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James)... At the moment I've already used the boots some days. I've even gone twice to my work with the "Camino's uniform", hehehe. Luckily, my boss has also made the pilgrimade to Santiago, so he knows that I need to use them if I don't want to have some wounds on my feet. But, as I'm not used to wear this type of boots, the 1st day I took them in a bag and put them on at my work... yes, I felt embarrassed to go on the street looking like that! Later I got used and wore them all day, but I had to carry the other pair of shoes all day! hehehe

Flor y + / Flower & more

Madre mía!! Cuánto tiempo!! La verdad es que estos días me conecto poco, con los días más largos paso más tiempo en la calle...

OMG!! It's been a long time since I last wrote!! These days I don't get connected a lot, with these summer long days I spend more time on the street...

Os hago un breve resumen de lo último: la flor del anterior post duró ¡¡1 día!!!!!! Sí sí, fue visto y no visto, pero bueno, al menos vivió en esplendor :)
Lo bueno es que este otro cactus floreció a los pocos días (y ésta ha durado mucho más :))

I give you a short summary of the last news: the flower of my last post lasted 1 day!!!!!! Yes, it was in and out in a flash, but, at least it was glorious :)
The beauty is that this other cactus blossomed a few days later (and this one has lasted much longer :))

Ya he acabado el 2º cojín para mi hermana!!!! pero no os lo puedo enseñar hasta que se lo dé, por si acaso... Espero dárselo esta semana :)
I've finished the 2nd pillow for my sister!!!! I can't show it to you until I give it to her, just in case... I hope I can do it this week :)

Y, este año, por vacaciones, voy a hacer a pie el Camino de Santiago!!! Lo haremos mi hermana y yo -a mi novio le toca trabajar :( - y tardaremos unas 2-3 semanas!! Haremos el Camino Primitivo, de Oviedo a Santiago de Compostela, unos 369km!!! Tenemos muchas ganas de hacerlo y ya hemos empezado a prepararnos todo el equipo... ya os iré explicando :)

And, this year, for Summer holidays, I will go on foot the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James)!!! I will go with my sister -my boyfriend has to work :( - and we will take between 2-3 weeks!! We will do the Primitive Route, from Oviedo to Santiago de Compostela, 369km!!!! We can't wait to do it and we have begun to prepare all the equipment... I will keep you updated :)

Flor de cactus / Cactus Flower

Mirad qué flor ha dado uno de mis cactus!! Es enorme!! Hace unos 3 años que lo tengo y nunca había florecido. Según mi novio, parece sacada de la peli de La tienda de los horrores, jejeje

Look at the flower of one of my cactus!! It's huge!! It's 3 years now that I've got it and it had never blossomed before. My boyfriend thinks that it has come out from the film Little Shop of Horrors, hehehe.

Y mirad este otro... También hace unos 3-4 años que lo tengo y nunca ha florecido, pero yo diría que este año sí... os seguiré informando.

No os fijéis mucho en el caos de las macetas, están haciendo obras en la fachada del edificio y las he tenido que meter todas en casa...
Don't pay too much attention to the mess with the flowerpots, the front facade of the building is being restored and I've had to put them in at home...

A través del blog de Casiopea, Viaje al laberinto de Tusitala, me he enterado que la ministra Leire Pajín está preparando la "Ley de Igualdad de Trato", también conocida como la nueva Ley Mordaza española.

Podéis leer más aquí, aquí y en este post para saber cómo nos afectará a los blogs, pero, básicamente con esta ley el Gobierno podría cerrar miles de blogs sin pasar por el parlamento basándose en conceptos de "discriminación" que parecen sacados de la época de la Inquisición.

Esta Ley entra en conceptos contradictorios por temas de discriminación en, por ejemplo, todo lo concerniente a la moderación de comentarios (está muy bien explicado en los artículos que os menciono más arriba). Un breve ejemplo:

- En la Moderación de comentarios te pueden multar por tener los comentarios moderados ya que pueden considerar que es discriminatorio, por ejemplo, en el tema de la lengua: tendría que aceptar comentarios de un idioma que no entiendo (con el riesgo de que el contenido fuera ilegal) ya que si no podrían multarme por cometer discriminación por razón de lengua (!).

- Si moderas los comentarios para controlar algunos comentarios "desagradables" que se pueden recibir, se te podría acusar de discriminar por razón de opinión, (infracción grave) por lo que se recibiría una sanción de entre 10.001 y 60.000 € (!!!).

Lo peor es que podrían bloquear el acceso a tu web/ blog o censurar parte de los contenidos para ¡¡¡dar satisfacción a la "víctima" de una "discriminación"!!!. Con lo que, si alguien acusa al blogger de discriminación, éste tendrá que probar su inocencia, como en la Inquisión, desapareciendo así la presunción de inocencia (art. 24 Constitución Española).

Se ha creado este logo para ponerlo en nuestros blogs como protesta. Además, se ha creado un grupo en Facebook ("No a la Ley Mordaza de Leire Pajín") en contra de esta propuesta de Ley para que entre tod@s hagamos fuerza.

A ver si entre todos conseguimos que no se apruebe!!

BOM A Little Town- 2º Bloque/ 2nd Block

Espero que hayáis tenido un buen fin de semana! Hoy lunes es fiesta en Barcelona, así que he aprovechado para acabar el 2º bloque del BOM de Sulky "A Little Town".

I hope you all had a nice weekend! Today is a holiday in Barcelona, so I've made the most of this long weekend and I've finished the 2nd block of the BOM "A Little Town" from Sulky.

He tenido que repetir la parte de la hierba un par de veces, y no es que me encante cómo ha quedado, pero lo voy a dejar así... ya que cuando una los bloques quedará arreglado.
I've had to redo all the grass twice, and I don't really like the result, but I'm going to leave it like that... because when I sew the blocks together it will be ok.

Me gusta mucho el diseño de este bloque y la combinación que hace de las aplicaciones con los bordados.
I love the design of this block and the mixture of the appliqué and embroideries.

Ahora voy a dedicarme, por eso, a acabar el 2º cojín para mi hermana, si no acabaré dándoselo para las próximas Navidades....
Now I'm going to work on the 2nd pillow for my sister, or I will give it to her on next Christmas...

Reconozco que el montaje final me ha costado un poco, pero aún así ha quedado bastante decent.

Este fin de semana fui a la sección de guías de viaje de una librería y allí descubrí la nueva colección que ha publicado GeoPlaneta y Lonely Planet en español: Acuarelas de Viaje.
Last weekend I went to the guide books department in a bookshop and I discovered the new collection published in Spanish by GeoPlaneta and Lonely Planet: Acuarelas de Viaje (Travel Watercolours).

Me ha parecido una colección preciosa y muy bien hecha que es un complemento ideal a las guías más convencionales para conocer el destino que vamos a visitar o que ya hemos visitado, o el regalo perfecto para los amantes de los viajes y las acuarelas. Su autor, Joaquín González Dorao, ha hecho un excelente y cuidado trabajo.
I think it's a beautiful and well done collection which is an ideal complement to the most conventional guides, to know the destination that we are going to visit or that we have already visited, or the perfect gift to travel & watercolour lovers. The author, Joaquín González Dorao, has made an excellent and impeccable work.

Bueno, pues a todos aquellos que les gusta crear sus propios cuadernos de viaje ilustrados, GeoPlaneta y LP organizan un concurso de este género en particular. Podéis encontrar las bases del concurso aquí. Yo participaría, pero la verdad es que mis dibujos dejarían mucho que desear... ejem...
El 1er premio es ¡un viaje a Croacia!, el 2º una caja de acuarelas y el 3º la colección completa de "Acuarelas de viaje".
..... quizás que me ponga a practicar mis dibujos :P

Hola chic@s!! Qué tal la Semana Santa? Este año nos hemos quedado en Barcelona, pero bueno, así hemos podido disfrutar de Sant Jordi. ¡Me encanta este día! Toda la ciudad llena de rosas y libros :) ... Y de todo lo que quería hacer, nada de nada...

Hi everybody!! How was your Easter holidays? This year we have stayed in Barcelona, so we have enjoyed Sant Jordi's day in the city. I love this day! All the city is full of roses and books :) ... and I did nothing I had planned to do these days...

Así que he decidido ponerme fechas para ir acabando lo que tengo empezado. A ver si al escribirlo, lo hago :). Básicamente, esta semana tengo previsto acabar la cesta japonesa del SAL de Isi y en 2-3 semanas el 2º cojín para mi hermana.

So, I have decided to fix some dates to finish what I have already begun. Let's see if I do it now that I've written it :). Basically, this week I plan to finish Isi's SAL of the basket with Japanese appliqués and in 2-3 weeks the 2nd pillow for my sister.

Además, voy a empezar el BOM "Little Town 2010" de SULKY. Me gusta mucho el estilo country de este quilt, que le quiero regalar a mi otra hermana (que vive en un pueblo muy pequeñito en el centro de España). Y como me conozco, ya me he hecho un calendario con los objetivos para tenerlo acabado en estas próximas Navidades.

I will also begin the BOM "Little Town 2010" from SULKY. I like the country style of this quilt, which will be a present to my other sister (who lives in a very little village in the centre of Spain). Cojín patchwork / Patchwork Pillow

En la página web de Interweave he visto un cojín que me ha gustado mucho. Es un tradicional log cabin pero con un aire muy moderno. Me parece que lo voy a utilizar para hacerle el 2º cojín a mi hermana. Los colores, por supuesto, serán anaranjados :)

In Interweave's website I've seen a pillow that I have liked a lot. It has a modern take on a traditional log cabin. I think I'm going to use it to make the 2nd pillow to my syster. But colours will certainly be orangey :)

He acabado el 4º objetivo del SAL de Isi. Esta vez he batido mi récord y he acabado 3 días antes del último día de plazo!! jejeje

I've finished the 4th objective of Isi's SAL. This time I've beaten my own record and I have finished 3 days before the deadline!! hehehe

Lo que me sigue saliendo "raro" son los zapatos, parece que los pobres pies miran cada uno a un lado...

I still sew the shoes in a "funny" way: it seems that one foot is looking at one side and the other at the opposite direction...

También he encontrado difícil el cuello de la camiseta...

Cojín patchwork / Patchwork Pillow

Como regalo de Navidades, le prometí a mi hermana 3 cojines... y por fin le he acabado el primero!! :)

As a Christmas gift, I promised my sister 3 pillows... and at last I have finished the first one!! :)

La única condición fue que tenía que ser anaranjado, un color que le da mucha energía y alegría.

The only condition: fabrics had to be orangey, a colour with lots of energy and joy that she likes a lot.

En la parte central combiné cuadros de 4x4cm (1.57x1.57") de 4 telas diferentes. Podéis ver detalles del acolchado en las fotos.
In the middle of the pillow I put together 4x4cm (1.57x1.57") squares of 4 different fabrics. You can see details of the quilting in the photos.

Aquí podéis ver la parte trasera. ¡Me encantó esta tela!

He acabado el 2º objetivo del SAL de la Cesta con appliqué japonés organizado por Isi.

Sin duda, lo más difícil ha sido aplicar las manzanas del árbol... ¡nunca había aplicado nada tan pequeño!! Así han salido... pero bueno, la próxima vez me saldrán mejor.

The apples have definitely been the most difficult part of this objective... I had never sewn anything so small!! and this is the result... but next time I'll do it better.

A Tisket A Tasket - Terminado / Finished

He tardado un año, pero ya lo he acabado! El BOM "A Tisket A Tasket" de Anne Sutton (Bunny Hill Designs).

It has taken me one year, but I have finished it! The "A Tisket A Tasket" BOM, from Anne Sutton (Bunny Hill Designs).

Lo he hecho todo a mano: bordados, patchwork y acolchado.
I've done it all by hand: embroidery, patchwork and quilting.

Al final, el quilt mide 163cm x 141cm (64'' x 56'').
The quilt measures 163cm x 141cm (64" x 56").

En la tira que rodea los bloques, acolché un par de hojas para cada bloque.
In the strip that surrounds all the blocks, I quilted a pair of leaves for each block.

Para la trasera utilicé una tela de color claro con estrellas pequeñas rojizas. Aquí podéis ver el acolchado por detrás:

Y aquí está ya sobre la cama de mis padres. Mi idea era que la utilizaran en el comedor, para taparse en el sofá, pero mi madre ha dicho que ni hablar, que allí se puede ensuciar y que su sitio será sobre la cama... y ya le ha dado instrucciones a mi padre de no sentarse encima, jejeje
And here you can see it on the bed of my parents. My idea was that they used it on the living room, to cover them with it when they were sitting on the sofa, but my mother has said that no way, that it can get dirty there and that its place will be on the bed... and she has already given some instructions to my father not to sit on it, hehehe

Acolchando / Quilting

Estas Navidades hilvané la colcha "A Tisket A Tasket". Tardé toda una mañana! Más de 4 horas!!! Mi pobre espalda acabó fatal (aunque, por suerte, me recuperé rápido :)

On Christmas I basted "A Tisket A Tasket" quilt. It took me all the morning! More than 4 hours!! I got a terrible back pain at the end! (but, luckily, I recovered quickly :)

Do you also spend a long time basting?

Ahora ya estoy acabando de acolcharla... calculo que en 1 semana o así ya la tendré acabada.
I'm finishing quilting it now... I think it will take me about one more week to finish it.

Como podéis ver, no me ha dado tiempo a terminarla para regalársela en Navidades a mis padres, pero bueno, prefiero hacerlo bien que no correr y dárselo de cualquier manera.
As you can see, I haven't had time to finish it and give it to my parents on Christmas; anyway, I prefer doing it well to doing it quickly and giving to them in any way.

Bordado japonés / Japanese Embroidery

Por su cumpleaños, le regalé a mi hermana un estuche de manicura, pero como no me gustaba el estuche en sí, decidí forrarlo con una funda de patchwork.

On her birthday, I gave to my sister a manicure set. However, I didn't like the case at all, so I decided to cover it with a patchwork work.

Le añadí un bordado japonés que Christy, de Sweet Tidings, nos ofrecía para descargar en este enlace. ¿No os parece monísimo?

I added a Japanese embroidery, which Christy (Sweet Tidings) shared with us in this link. Don't you think it's cute?

La verdad es que me costó un poco coser la funda al estuche (y menos mal que el estuche era de tela!).
Sewing the patchwork cover to the case was quite difficult (and thank godness that the case was made of a kind of fabric!).

Podéis ver que sobre todo una de las esquinas ha quedado bastante arrugada y el bordado ha quedado algo torcido... :(
You can see that one of the corners is quite wrinkled and the embroidery isn't straight... :(

Pero bueno, aún así estoy contenta con el resultado. Y a mi hermana le gustó mucho :)

Este año, como árbol de Navidad, he utilizado un limonero que tengo desde hace unos pocos años (y que está un poco pelado...).
This year I've used a lemon tree as my Christmas Tree. It's some years now that I've got it, and it has now just a few leaves...

Lo he adornado con los adornos que he ido recibiendo desde hace 3 años ya... y me encanta cómo ha quedado!! :) Os dejo unas fotos para que podáis verlo.

Pues ya está, ya he acabado de bordar los 12 bloques de A Tisket A Tasket. El que os enseño hoy es el último, correspondiente al mes de diciembre.

So this is it, I've finished embroidering the 12 blocks for A Tisket A Tasket. This one I'm showing to you today is December's one.

Me he puesto 2 semanas de margen, porque luego lo tendré que acolchar y quiero tenerlo terminado para Navidades para regalárselo a mis padres...

I've given myself 2 weeks to finish it because then I'll have to quilt it. I want to finish it on Christmas time because it'll be a present for my parents...

Cambiando de tema, me he apuntado al SAL que organiza ISI de Appliqué Japonés y que empezará en enero 2011. Nunca he utilizado esta técnica y la verdad es que tengo muchas ganas! :)
Another subjetc, I've signed up for the SAL of Japanese Appliqué organized by ISI, which will begin on January 2011. I've never used this technique and I can't wait to begin! :)

Sigo bordando los bloques de A Tisket A Tasket. Este que os enseño es el correspondiente a Octubre. Tengo que ponerme las pilas si quiero tenerlo acabado estas Navidades para regalárselo a mis padres... empieza la cuenta atrás! :)

I continue embroidering the blocks of A Tisket A Tasket. This is October's one. I have to get cracking if I want to finish it by Christmas and give it as a present to my parents... the countdown begins! :)

Aquí podéis ver el bloque con otra bufanda KATIA TRIANA que estoy haciendo. Es de un color de tonos gris plateado - negro. Queda muy bonita y elegante (la foto no le hace justicia, la verdad). Así también podéis ver otro color que puede elegir la ganadora del SORTEO. Recordad que os podéis apuntar hasta HOY 5 de noviembre en la entrada del 29/10/2010.

Este fin de semana pasado me pasé por el PulgasMix, en Barcelona.

Me compré un collar de Lyn Newhouse Art (me gustaron muchos sus ilustraciones y muñecas) y unos pendientes de la colección MakTub de Nutopia (joyería en plata y vidrio), de la que ya tenía el collar y buscaba los pendientes a juego.
I bought a necklace from Lyn Newhouse Art (I loved her illustrations and dolls) and a pair of earrings of the MakTub collection from Nutopia (jewelry in silver and glass). I already had the necklace and I was looking for the earrings to complete the set.

Viernes lluvioso / Rainy Friday

Lleva unos días que no para de llover... ahora parece que vuelve a empezar...

It has been some days now that it's raining here... and now it's beginning again...

He acabado el 9º bloque de "A Tisket A Tasket", pero las fotos me han salido fatal! Las repetiré cuando haya mejor luz, pero de momento os pongo un trocito con un bloque "Irish Chain" para el otro BOM que estoy haciendo (Snowbound).

I've finished the 9th block of "A Tisket A Tasket", but the photos are terrible! I'll make them again when the weather is better, but at the moment I show you an Irish Chain block for the other BOM I'm making (Snowbound).

Os enseño también una alegría que tengo en la cocina. Cuando la compré estaba llena de capullos, pero se le cayeron casi todos... pensaba que se iba a morir (hubiera durado el récord de 1 semana!) pero ahora parece que vuelve a la vida! Cada día la miro a ver cuánto han crecido! :)

This is a Garden Balsam I've got in the kitchen. When I bought it, it was full of buds, but almost all of them fell down... I thought that it was going to die (in a record time of 1 week!) but now it seems that it has come back to life! Every day I look at it to see how they have grown! :)

Este bloque corresponde al mes de julio. En el original, en la banderita que lleva la oveja salía "4th" por el 4 de julio, pero lo he sustituido con un botón en forma de flor porque no es un día significante en España (vamos, que mis padres se hubieran quedado igual)...

This is July's block. In the original, it's written "4th" on the flag (4th July), but I have replaced it with a flower button because it's not a significant day in Spain...

A Tisket A Tasket - 3er bloque / 3rd Block

Estos días tengo que trabajar, así que estoy en el ordenador (casi) todo el día... pero bueno, me tomo un descansillo y os enseño otro bloque más acabado.

These days I have to work, so I'm in front of the computer (almost) all the day... but well, I'm taking now a little break and so I show you another finished block.

Estas son las primeras flores que he hecho con este punto... se nota, porque no han quedado muy bien... no tienen mucha forma de flor, la verdad.

These are the firsts flowers I have made with this stitch... you can see it because they are not very well done... in fact they don't have the shape of a flower.

Fiesta de la Primavera / Spring Party

El sábado 20 de marzo empezó la primavera, y nos invitaron a una fiesta para celebrarlo donde la consigna era llevar algo en la cabeza, cuanto más original o raro mejor...

Last 20th March it was the beginning of Spring, and we were invited to a party. The instructions were to wear something on our heads, the more original or stranger the better...

Como no me gusta llamar mucho la atención, decidí hacerme unas florecillas en ganchillo (hice 4, pero 1 la regalé) y ponérmelas por la cabeza... (no os fijéis mucho, que no están muy bien hechas...)

As I don't like to attract too much attention, I decided to crochet some little flowers (I made 4, but I gave 1) and to put them on my head... (but don't pay too much attention at them, they aren't very well done...)

Al anfitrión, que llevaba la "perla" de aquí abajo, le pareció demasiado discreto, así que me enchufó un gorro playero. Lo que hice, para que al menos se vieran las florecillas, fue colgármelas por el ala del gorro, jejeje. ¡Vaya pinta!!

The host, who was wearing the "pearl" of the photo below, said it was too discreet, so he put a beach cap on me. So, what I did, was to hang the flowers on the brim of the cap, hahaha. You should have looked at me!!

Y aún tuve suerte... si hubiera llegado antes, quizá me hubiera colocado lo que le puso a esta chica: una sillita ¡con un belén! jejeje

And I was quite lucky... if I had arrived before, maybe he would have put on me what he gave to another girl: a little chair with a nativity scene! hahaha

Otro más, qué bien! La verdad es que estos días tengo poco tiempo, pero es como una droga, y a cada minuto que tengo libre, me pongo a ello.... ;)

Al final este fin de semana no he podido ir a la Feria de Patchwork de Sitges porque me he tenido que quedar a trabajar :( A ver si el año que viene sí que puedo... De momento, me contentaré visitando los blogs de quienes sí han podido asistir.

I haven't been able to go to the Patchwork Fair at Sitges (near Barcelona) because I have had too much work :( I hope next year I can... At the moment I'll be satisfied by visiting the blogs of the people who have gone there.

He acabado el 1er bloque del BOM de A Tisket A Tasket. Lo he hecho todo en punto de cadeneta... ¿qué pensáis? la verdad es que no tengo mucha experiencia en bordado (por no decir ninguna), así que no sé si hubiera quedado mejor con otro tipo de punto...

I've finished the 1st block of A Tisket A Tasket BOM. I've made it all with chain stitch.... what do you think? The truth is that I've got little experience in embroidery (not to say anything), so I don't know if it would have looked better with another type of stitch...

Pero bueno, estoy bastante contenta con el resultado...
But I'm quite happy with the result...

A Tisket A Tasket - Bunny Hill Designs

En paralelo al BOM Snowbound que me estoy haciendo, he decidido hacer el BOM A Tisket A Tasket, también de Anne Sutton (Bunny Hill Designs) (sí, llamadme loca si queréis.... ;) ). Hasta hace poco se podía descargar gratuito desde su página web, pero ahora se puede adquirir en su tienda.

In parallel to the Snowbound BOM that I'm making, I've decided to make the A Tisket A Taket BOM, also from Anne Sutton (Bunny Hill Designs) (yes, you can call me crazy if you want.... ;) ). Until a short time ago you could download it free from her website, but now you can buy it from her shop.

Yo voy a hacer el trabajo bordado en rojo y será un regalo para mis padres. Intentaré que sea una sorpresa, pero no sé si podré aguantar sin decirles nada.... La idea es que sea un regalo para Navidades, pero conociéndome, en cuanto lo tenga acabado se lo daré (soy optimista y creo que será antes de Navidades:) ).

I'm going to make the RedWork and it will be a present for my parents. I'll will try it to be a surprise, but I'm not really sure I will resist the temptation to tell them.... The idea is to be a Christmas gift, but, as I know myself, I'm sure that as soon as I finish it, I will give it to them (I'm optimistic and I think I will finish it before Xmas :) ).

La semana que viene tengo previsto acabar una cosita pendiente desde........ ¡¡¡hace 1 año!!!! (no puede ser!!! ¿cómo es posible que el tiempo pase tan rápido???)
Next week I've planned to finish one thing still unfinished since........... 1 year ago!!!!!! (it can't be possible!!!!! how time flies!!!!!)

9º Adorno / 9th Ornament

No os lo había puesto todavía, pero en Navidades recibí el 9º adorno del 4º Swap de adornos navideños de FreshlyBlended. Es una alegre y navideña corona de cuentas que me envió Special Teacher.

I hadn't published it yet, but on Christmas I received the 9th ornament for the 4th Holiday Ornament Swap organized by FreshlyBlended. It's a lively, bright and Chrismas wreath made of beads that sent me Special Teacher.

En realidad es un adorno muy especial que realizaron los alumnos de la clase de educación especial de la Sra. Sandford. Tal como explican en su carta, gracias a esta actividad aprendieron sobre patrones, a colocar contando 2 cuentas rojas y 4 cuentas verdes, a escribir la dirección en el sobre y a situar en el mapamundi los diferentes sitios donde enviaron sus adornos.

In fact, it's a very special ornament which was made by the Special Education Class of Mrs. Sandford. They sent me the following note with it:

"We wanted to include a note with our ornament that we made in class. We have been learning about patterns. We made this ornament by counting 2 red beads and then we counted 4 green beads. It took us longer than it would for you because we have some physical disabilities. Our teacher and aides helped us by placing their hand over our hand as we put the beads onto the pipe cleaner. We sure had fun making this ornament for you. Now we are learning how to put an address on the envelope. We are finding all the places on the world map to see where they will end up. We can't wait to see what ornaments will be sent to us. We hope you have a very special holiday season.
